2013 AGM of the Association

The 2013 AGM of the Parent's Association took place in the school on 5 December. The main issues covered were the report on the PA's activities and the Treasurer's report. The latter can be downloaded here. In summary, €8,318 was taken in at Halloween, Easter, Christmas and Confirmation events while €6,643 was spent mainly on these events. The surplus of €1,669 goes back to the school development fund. It should be noted that while the PA members organized the Golf Classic and associated funding activities, the monies from these go directly to the school.

Presentations were also made as follows:-
1. Ms Rita Treacy spoke on the Wordsworth Literacy Programme for dyslexia.
2. Mr. Dermot Walsh spoke on the virtual learning platform that is being developed in the school. It is based on the concept of a MOOC or Massive Open Online Course. These are becoming very popular worldwide and we would like to present our curriculum in a similar format so students can have access from home supporting the work we so in class.
3. Mr. Jim Halligan spoke briefly on the upgrade to the School's IT system that is currently being planned. He also expects the new sports fields on Stonebridge Road to be available in September 2014.
4. Ms Granine Gallwey spoke about the school gardening programme that takes place every Wednesday at lunchtime. Susan Fanning and Julie Ann Mulhall work with Grainne on this but more help is needed so if you would like to become involved, ring Grainne at 087 759 6718.

Finally, if you are reading this, please consider coming forward and helping the PA or joining the Committee - the same ol . . . oops!. . . experienced faces have been involved for years and new members would be very welcome especially if you have kids in the younger classes. Contact details for the PA are here.

2013 Christmas Party Pictures

The Children's Christmas Party was held in the School on Sunday December 1st. Thanks to all who helped out on the day. Football and outdoor games in the big and small yards this year were very popular and we were lucky with the mild calm weather.
